Today, “Kourion 2030 European Capital of Culture – Candidate City” proudly announces the official submission of its bid-book for the pre-selection stage of the European Capital of Culture 2030 title.

Under the theme “A City Yet to Be,” Kourion Municipality envisions a future shaped by cultural exploration, collective creativity, and meaningful connections across Europe. Our bid is not merely a proposal - it is an invitation to rediscover the power of culture in transforming communities, nurturing dialogue, and inspiring shared futures.

This milestone represents months of dedication, collaboration, and creative ambition, and we are proud to take part in this initiative that encourages rethinking the value of culture for local communities while building new bridges across Europe.

Candidate cities will be invited to present their proposals and respond to questions from the twelve-member Selection Panel at the end of February 2025, with the decision on which cities will advance to the final phase being announced shortly thereafter. We extend our warmest wishes for success to all fellow candidate cities participating in this inspiring journey.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to this endeavor: local and international partners, cultural organizations, artists, and residents who shared project ideas and worked alongside us. Your energy and creativity have brought the spirit of Kourion 2030 to life.

While this submission marks an important milestone, it is far from the end of our cultural journey. We remain fully committed to enhancing the cultural offering of the Kourion Municipality and implementing the Kourion 2025-2034 Cultural Development Strategy.
