Join us for an extraordinary evening of innovative music at the Cyprus Wine Museum in Erimi, Kourio on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at 6 PM. This concert, part of the Toyful Music Festival, will showcase the selected works of young composers from Cyprus and Europe, who have redefined the boundaries between traditional musical instruments and musical toys. Under the guidance of renowned composer Andys Skordis, these compositions will come to life in an exciting live performance. Composers Biographies
Rosita Piritore (1996) is an Italian pianist and composer. She has a heterogeneous concert activity by performing in cities such as Milano, New York, São Paulo, Ravenna, Caltanissetta, Reggio Emilia etc. Since 2020, she has held the position of pianist and arranger in the Toscanini Next Orchestra in Parma. Her works have been performed in festivals and venues such as Music by Women Festival (Columbus), Art.9 (Hong Kong), Carnegie Hall (New York), LunART Festival (Madison), PREview (Porto), Ambasciata del Messico (Roma), Stift Music Festival, German Federal Garden Show [BUGA] (Mannheim), Storioni Festival (Eindhoven), Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, Con brio festival (Osnabruck) etc. She received numerous piano and composition prizes including Euterpe-Mediterraneo in musica, Gabriella Cipriani Prize, Females Featured, Composition Competition City of Barcelona P.G., Il Casale di Riardo International Competition, Vladimir Mendelssohn International Composition Competition and many others.
Ylli Daklani (1998) is an Albanian composer from Kosova. Born in Mitrovica, Kosova, his musical journey began as a chorister in his hometown. During high school, he studied piano and developed an interest in music composition. In 2020, he completed his bachelor's degree in composition at the University of Prishtina under the guidance of Professors Drinor Zymberi and Mendi Mengjiqi.
In 2017, he was awarded third prize at the Artistes en Herbe Composing Competition; in 2018, the composer received an honorary award at the 11th pre-art Competition for young composers in Switzerland. Ylli was also a finalist at the “Konkursi për kompozitorë të rinjë nga Prishtina International Vocal Festival 2018”, Kosovo; in 2019 at the first edition of The Balkan Composer Competition in Prishtina 2019 his work won the third prize. The same year, he attended the masterclasses in Tirana, Albania, with composer Thomas Simaku (Albania) and clarinetist Jérôme Comte (France). In 2021 he won the first prize for composition in ArsKosova Music Competition and was also a finalist. In 2022 he was awarded the first prize at Chopin Piano Fest and held a residency program at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. As of 2023, he is the winner of The Balkan Composer Competition in Prishtina 2023 and participated in the MDI ensemble Musical week in Rome, attending masterclasses by Marco Stroppa and Franck Bedrossian. Recently, the 7th Krzysztof Penderecki International Competition for Young Composers awarded him the first prize.
His work has been performed, among others, by Kosovo Philharmonic Choir, Oerknal Ensemble, AltreVoci Ensemble, Nouvel Ensemble Contemporain (NEC), in festivals such as Flute Sounds Festival, Prishtina International Vocal Festival, Balkan Contemporary youth Academy and DAM Festival. In 2020, his work “THE NEWBORN” for seven instruments was featured in the “Antologji e kompozitorëve kosovar” published by MAGMUS publishing house.
Giorgos Magalios was born in 1997 and grew up in Larissa. He graduated from the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia with specialization in Composition and professor George Kyriakakis and from the State Conservatory (counterpoint and fugue) with professors Kostas Siembis and Kostas Tsougras. In 2023 he completed his postgraduate studies in Music Sciences and Arts with his thesis "Internet Culture and Music Creation.
He currently lives in Thessaloniki, where his compositional activity is mainly related to the theatre, while his works have been performed in Greece and Germany. His music is influenced by polystylism, neoclassicism and internet culture.
Nikiforos Kourbetis (2002) lives in Thessaloniki and he graduated from the Department of Music Science and Art of the University of Macedonia, specializing in composition. His works have been presented in various festivals in Chalkida and Thessaloniki such as: Days of Greek Music Creation, Vafopouleio Cultural Centre, Cyclorhythmic Festival, MOMus- Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, bio-Mechanical Festival, Avlidia Artemis Cultural Space.
Since his youth, he has been actively involved in music, combining classical education with contemporary creative projects, while he has also worked as an arranger and stage musician in theatre productions.
Nicolas Psaras (1996) comes from Paphos and is currently studying music at the ARTE Music Academy in Nicosia. Since September 2024 he is in his second year of studies, specializing in composition and orchestration, while his main musical instrument is the classical guitar.
His music course is his second study, as he has already completed his studies in medicine in Greece, where during his studies he also obtained the degrees of harmony and counterpoint specialist. His contact with music began in his childhood, with participation in choirs and learning musical instruments in conservatories in his town. Music is an integral part of his life, a source of inspiration and expression.
