TOYFUL MUSIC FESTIVAL
31 October - 2 November 2024, Erimi, Kourio
Toyful Music Festival 2024 seeks to bring "play" back to the centre of musical creation and enjoyment, aiming at playing around with the concept of "playing" music. In this unique three-day festival, composers, musicians and other sound artists from Cyprus and Europe join forces and create musical works and soundscapes, mixing classical musical instruments, children's and musical toys, everyday objects and environmental sounds, exploring the limits of their coexistence and the blending of sound colours.
The Toyful Music Festival includes concerts, workshops, sound mapping activities, sound walks and an explosive closing with world premieres of composed works and music influenced by the sounds of the region. The festival will host artists experimenting with sounds, toys and places, proposing an alternative way for listening to and experiencing music.

Friday 1 November, 14.00-15.30, Limassol Music School "Marios Tokas"
When the game becomes “noise” and the “noise” becomes music, does the performer remain a musician or does he become a child again? The workshop is aimed at pianists of all ages and levels, inviting them to explore works from the contemporary repertoire for solo or group piano. Through the last century's oeuvre and the use of extramusical instruments, playing comes to the centre of musical exploration and participants discover new ways to 'play' music. Notes, words, movement, singing and improvisation, humour and creativity intertwine to answer the question: "Do I "play" with music?
The workshop will be facilitated by Mrs. Iro Menegou, piano and advanced music theory educator, with significant experience in contemporary music and performances in festivals of international level.
* The workshop is organized in collaboration with the Limassol Music School "Marios Tokas" and is addressed to the students of the Limassol Music High School and Lyceum.
