SOTIRA
Sotira Limassol is located approximately 30 km west of the capital of the same name and is the second largest village in administrative area of the province (4,435 hectares), with a large part of it belonging to the British bases. The village is crossed by the Symboulos stream and its highest point is the peak of Rofesia (386 meters). It includes part of the Episkopi State Forest.
Sotira was probably founded in the Byzantine years and bears the name of Sotiros Christos, with Chrysosotiras as the main church. Close to the village, in the locations of Teppes and Kaminoudkia, there are important archaeological sites with prehistoric settlements. Architectural remains of the Neolithic II era (4500 – 3900 BC) and of the Early Bronze Age I (2500 – 2075 BC) were found in Kaminothkia, along with carved tombs. All together they present several innovations for the time.
Sotira Limassol is famous for resi, the Cypriot wedding pilaf, as well as its delicious golden rolls.
